When you consider that a weed is just a plant thriving in a new place, it makes sense to learn why it was introduced in the first instance. Was it for food or medicine, ground cover, hedging for windbreaks, fodder, timber, landscape or street tree or a garden escape.
Their are lots of advantages and uses for weeds growing in our area. Perhaps, we just need to take a breath and see it as an available abundance of something that can survive and thrive in a range of soils. All it takes is a name, a lot of research, an idea and a good supply of healthy seasonal plant material.
Walk, talk and make all things 'weedy' with experienced forager and local Chris Rockley. You'll be amazed at the abundance that surrounds us. Autumn is harvest and home remedies time so bring enough baskets, bags and jars to take home your bounty. We'll be making and creating at the Senior Citizens Centre after the walk.
