Are you ‘weeding out’ the best plants in your patch
We’ve been working hard for the last year to create a useful guide to help you quickly identify and reference edible and useful weeds. There are 24 common weeds represented here. Although the guide is specific to Western Victoria, most are found widely across Victoria.
We’ve included what and when to harvest and a range of use categories including Beverages, Culinary use, Medicinal use and Animal uses. Please note that the information is intended as a guide only and should be researched further before using medicinally. Also note that the everyone is different and may have allergies and intolerances. Over the past year we’ve been able to test out the majority of the plants listed.
Many have been favourites for years.
Chris has done numerous talks and articles on edible weeds over the years and has knowledge of weeds across NSW as well as Victoria. Our hope is that by educating people about the uses of ‘weeds’, they may be viewed as a free and readily available resource. We’d also like to help reduce the amount of herbicide that is used domestically. Helping the entire food chain as a whole along the way.
